NOZGEKA

Enhancing pandemic preparedness by establishment of a MSc Public Health with a focus on infectious disease epidemiology in MalawiEnhancing pandemic preparedness by establishment of a MSc Public Health

As in many countries, there is a lack of higher education programmes on quantitative public health and epidemiology especially infectious disease epidemiology in Malawi. These programmes however are essential to enhance pandemic preparedness as in the case of epidemics or pandemics both practical and theoretical expertise in infectious diseases and quantitative epidemiology are needed. Infectious disease epidemiology as a profession is therefore key to ensure pandemic preparedness on a high level and therefore directly feeds into the implementation of one of the SDG 3 goals. However, in Malawi as in many other countries education options, expertise and capacity for infectious disease epidemiology, both applied and theoretical is lacking. The aim of the project NOZGEKA is to collaboratively establish a Master of Public Health with a focus on Infectious Disease Epidemiology with the University Livingstonia and the University Mzuzu in Malawi.
