TwinChain

Toward digital twins for holistic tracing of transmission chains

The aim of TwinChain is to develop various models of human movement, fluid dynamics, and disease transmission on different spatial scales and integrate them into a performant framework that can provide a holistic representation of disease spread within a certain region, with special focus on transmission in care homes and hospitals. With a structure and parameterisation informed by empirical data and domain knowledge from project partners at the Charité and the Cologne Public Health Department, the framework will be used to granularly model seasonal and outbreak dynamics of influenza and other respiratory pathogens, and assess the effectiveness of various non-pharmaceutical interventions at curbing this spread.
